This is image was taken during my trip to Punta Indio. This place has a quiet and beautiful beach.
Next week my girlfriend and I are going on holidays to Mendonza (Argentina) and Chile, so I’m very happy about that!
I will obviously take my camera with me, so just wait to see images from Mendoza and Chile within two weeks from now.
Cheers and I hope you had a great time on Christmas!

Lonely Tree under the Sun

There isn’t too much story about this image… so this post will be brief (I take a rest from the last one).
Driving in Punta Indio, and trying to find another place near it to visit, we went trough this field that is shown on the image. The light conditions were very harmful, I had the sun pointing straight at me and this was very annoying. Because of this, I thought that it would be a nice opportunity to take several exposures and later create an HDR image… wrong!
The problem is that when you have the sun in front of you, the HDR image doesn’t look good, anyway, I’ve tried to do my best. And because of this harmfull ligthing conditions, the image also lost a bit of color.
This wasn’t my only attempt to create an HDR in this conditions. Sadly, I realiced this when I downloaded the photos to my computer. So I had to erase a few shots.
Anyway, I think the image looks pretty fine! The lonely and dark tree gives a loneliness feeling to the image.
So I learned that an HDR image doesn’t look good when you have the sun in front of you!

French Saddle Horse in Punta Indio

I’m still with Punta Indio’s inspiration. I think that the excitement of uploading a photo more frequently than usual (two per week approximately) is due to how much I wanted to go out of the city and take photos of something new.
To be honest, sometimes is complicated to find time to upload an image to Flickr and then create the post in the blog. It seems easy but I put lots of work into these things and I also try to take a good care of all the details. Besides the time this blog and Flickr takes, I have to add some extra hours to process the photo if necessary and also selecting the best shot, something that’s not very easy.
For the one who takes the photos it’s always difficult, because when it’s time to pick a winner, you take into account elements that others don’t know, like the time you spend choosing the right angle, choosing the best composition to be as good as possible, etc. And after all, a photo without any preparation or planning, completely spontaneous, can be more attractive and better. That’s why is important that other people see our work and give their opinion selecting the best shot in a set. Sometimes “the photo” is obvious and is very easily selected.
It took a while to choose the Goat with Fringe photo candidate from the set. I had a few shots of this animal, from different angles and with the goat looking at different points. When I chose the winner to upload, I wasn’t 100% sure. It was after how well received the photo was on Flickr that I realized this was the best, definitely. Beyond comments or views/visits to the image, I now know that this is the best from the set of my friend the Goat with Fringe.
Going back to this post’s photo, it’s clearly a horse (let me know if the breed is not correct!). The photo was taken around 1 p.m. on Saturday 23rd of August in Punta Indio. We got to this side of the town to meet its beaches. On the horse’s photo you can’t see the beach and the sea, but it was just about two blocks away from there.
Next to this horse there were some little shops where a family was selling some handicrafts. They had about two or three stands and they offered all kinds of jams and liquors. Once we got into a stand, the lady who owned the place told us about the history of this place, its inhabitants and famous peace, which they want to keep untouched at all, neither by lots of new inhabitants or tourism. She also told us that that they didn’t want to asphalt the main route to the town so access to this place wouldn’t be easy.
After a long and amusing chat with the lady, my girlfriend and I decided to buy her something. For me the choice was easy: dulce de leche (it’s a very common “jam” in Argentina, it’s like peanut butter but sweeter, more info here).
I say goodbye breaking the line’s record in a post!
And finally I have created a new category containing all the posts from Punta Indio here.

Green Leaf Texture

Green Leaf Texture , originally uploaded by Gabriel Robledo.
This time I uploaded a photo a bit different.
I always wanted to experiment with abstract or texture photography. It’s more difficult because you have to see things in a different way and you have to pay more attention to the details of your surrounding environment. The weekend in the fields was a great opportunity to experiment into this because I was going to be surrounded by lots of nature’s elements, very different with what you can get in the city.
Going back to abstract photos, what I think is really interesting is that these photos are very simple, tidy and with intense colors and well defined shapes.
The photo: it’s simply a very big green leaf that was just at a side of our cabin in Punta Indio. I had to make many attempts before getting this result, which matched perfectly what I wanted to achieve in my mind. The reflection of the sun enhances the leaf’s texture and intensifies the details.
Sometimes it’s difficult to realize how interesting simple things can be.
More images taken in Punta Indio here.
Cheers!
