I took this image while playing with my new lens (a Canon 50 mm 1.8). I shot this image using only the television’s light.

If trying something different in my last post wasn’t enough, I don’t have words to describe this photo.

My girlfriend and I decided to try the remote shooting using the pc and here’s the result: as you can see, not too serious… but it was really funny, specially because I don’t do these things too often… or never!

Let’s see who doesn’t have one of these photos!

In a previous post, when I showed a photo of the Argentinean Flag and the Obelisk, I mentioned that, in the same place, there was a small demonstration. That demonstration was being held by a group of humanists who were claiming the message of “No Violence”.

While I was taking photos of the Argentinean flag and waiting for it to be aligned and spread out by wind, I’ve started to hear some drums and people singing. When I turned around, I saw this small group of people walking around the Obelisk, all dressed in orange clothes. I thought: “what a nice opportunity to take some photos of this scene!”

I took some far away images and then decided to get closer as the people there looked pacific. When I approached the two people holding the orange flag which read “Humanistas No-Violencia” (Humanist No-Violence in English) they posed for me so I could take the photo. They thought that I was from a newspaper or a magazine!

Apart from all of these people carrying the message of “No Violence” there was a fake Chinese dragon. Don’t ask me what this has to do with the demonstration, I don’t understand it either, but there it was. You can see it in the third image of this post.

While I continued shooting, I had this feeling of everyone looking at me as if I were a journalist or something of the sort. So in the end I felt like one for a moment!

After several shots my lunch time was over and I needed to go back to the office, just one block and a half away from there.

Even though these images aren’t as “artistic” as the ones I’m used to take and post here, it’s nice to try something different.

Cheers!

It’s been a while since the last time I went to take photos near my work, which is downtown. The last time I did this I captured the Street Artist.

So today I went to Florida Street in Buenos Aires, looking for something interesting to photograph. And I found something indeed: this old man playing the guitar in the hope that someone would give him some coins.

When I saw him, he wasn’t playing anything at all, he was talking with two other people, so I didn’t know which type of music he was making, but I supposed it was either Tango or Folklore. So, while he was talking with the other two guys, I interrupted them and asked this man for permission to take photos of him. He kindly said yes but on one condition: a little “collaboration”. I thought this was completely fair, so I agreed immediately. We traded coins and photos and here is the result.

Light was very harsh because of the time of the day: midday, a time when there is too much contrast between lights and shadows. Luckily, I took this picture in RAW format so I could recover plenty of details in the shadow and dark areas of the image. Anyway, color didn’t fit this image due to the intensive adjustments, so I decided to convert this one to black and white.

I’m still dealing with the stock photography websites. I realizing that photos need a lot more of production and adjustments than I thought.

Besides, I uploaded some images to a new website: Dreamstime.com. This website was recommended to me by Lorraine Swansons in one comment she made on one of my posts. I will see what happens with this new website the next week when they review my photos.

Intense Concentration

Intense Concentration, originally uploaded by Gabriel Robledo.

Well, this is my first post for the English version blog. I wanted to start this one with what I think I’ve learned to do well: a photograph.

I will do my best to keep both blogs updated and to have the same content on both. Then I will see what happens. I will also try to begin translating my other post. If you still want to see the Spanish version of the blog, just go here.

Going back to the picture, this was a street artist, performing some kind of statue act in one of the most popular streets in the capital city of Buenos Aires: Florida street.

As I work near Florida street, I decided to take my camera one day at the office and in my lunch break, go to have a walk at this street. Just to clarify, this is not a street where cars can go, it’s only for people, closed to transit and full of shops.

While I was walking, I saw a little crowd of people and then decided to go to see what it was. When I see her, I didn’t hesiate and took a few pictures. The one posted here is my second best. The best of the series for me can be seen here.

Cheers!
