Summary of 2008
January 1, 2009 at 1:11 pm | In News | 5 CommentsTags: 2008, achievements, blog, goals, Photography, summary
Today I would like to mention some personal and important achievements in 2008:
o – Personal web page. Knowing how easy is to have a web page these days, I’ve decided to create one on my own to show some of my photos online. This was the beginning…
o – Creation of this Blog in Spanish. For the first time in my life I’ve started a blog. This makes me very happy and is something that I love to put my effort on. The Spanish 6 months old version of this blog had 3.440 visits in 2008. For the months of November and December, the visits were 900 for each one of it.
o – Creation of the English version of this Blog. I’ve started this Blog in English so my non-speaking Spanish contacts could read my posts and news. This blog has been 5 months online and has a total of 1.491 visits. For the months of November and December the visits were 268 and 369 respectively.
o – My very first image sales. This was something I’ve always wanted to try and 2008 was the year I could finally do it. So far, the most successful portfolio is the one on Dreamstime.
o – I’ve purchased a Pro account on Flickr. This gave me access to account statistics. Here, the amount of visits is really impressive. The account has had a total of 36.500 visits. The average of visits in December was about 150 visits per day.
o – I’ve also had a few images published online here and here.
o – Freedom 2008 exposition. For the first time in my life, some photos were shown in a foreign country (England). This was due to a contest that Flickr organized.
o – Finally I would like to mention the inclusion of some images in two travel blogs: Traveling Around the World – San Francisco and Places to visit in Argentina – Villa Carlos Paz y Villa General Belgrano.
2008 has been a very positive year (I hope for you too). And I wish a better 2009!
Now it’s your turn… How was your 2008? Which positive things can you mention? Do you have any plans for 2009?
This is probably my last post before my holidays, so I will see you in about a week from now. I’m looking forward to hearing your answers and I wish you a very happy and successful 2009!

Image published on a cancer research website
December 13, 2008 at 10:39 am | In News | 4 CommentsTags: alajuela, blue, butterfly, cancer, costa rica, photo, Photography, poas volcano national park, published, the special fund
One of my photos has been published today in a website for a non-profit cancer research site called The sPECial Fund. Having photos published in websites is always great news!
You can see the page where the photo is published by clicking here or by clicking on the following image.
I took this blue butterfly image in a butterflies observatory called The Butterfly Farm located in the province of Alajuela, Costa Rica. This butterfly observatory is inside the Poás Volcano National Park which is a highly recommended place to visit.
Apart from being published on the website, I appreciate being notified for the use of my image… that’s something that not always happens.
Cheers!

A new portfolio online!
December 8, 2008 at 10:35 am | In News | Leave a CommentTags: dreamstime, online, photo, Photography, portfolio, stock photography, world
A few months ago I decided to upload my photographs to microstock sites and offer my images around the world for commercial purposes…
Today I happily announce that after having worked on my images for several months, I have a new and growing portfolio at Dreamstime.com!!!
You can see the portfolio here or by clicking on the following image:
Here you will find some new images that I had never posted neither on this blog nor on Flickr. And you will also find some new studio shots. More images are yet to come. I’m very excited about this!
Finally, I recommend anyone who is interested in photography to try to experiment with this. You will learn about other aspects of photography, like image quality and composition, among others, which will help you improve your image shooting skills considerably.
Cheers!
Gabriel
