The Andes Mountain Range by Gabriel Robledo
I took this one while crossing the Andes Mountain Range. Luckily, the bus wasn’t going to fast so I was able to frame this gorgeous landscape very well.

The Bells of Neruda's House at Isla Negra by Gabriel Robledo
And since it couldn’t have turned out any other way, in Chile we visited Pablo Neruda’s beautiful house in Isla Negra. In the image you can see some bells that are outside his house. When you look at the bells from the position I took the photo, you have a very beautiful view of the beach.

Beach View
You can’t imagine how many things Neruda collected in his house! There you can find figureheads, dissected insects and thousands of rare artifacts from other countries. Most of these objects are related to one of his passions: navigation.
Something that got stuck into my mind was that Neruda made up a story for each object and an explanation of why each object should be in a certain place of the house. You can find a brief history of the house where some of these objects are mentioned here.
Sadly, I couldn’t take any imagines inside the house because it was prohibited, it would have been nice. Anyway, I’ve found some images of the inside of the house at the Isla Negra Foundation’s web page.

Virgin Mary Monument on top of Cerro San Cristóbal by Gabriel Robledo
This is an image of the Virgin Mary Monument that is located in the city of Santiago, Chile.
The monument is on top of the Cerro San Cristóbal. To visit it, you must take this little funicular:

And once you are on top, you can see the mentioned monument and a little chapel that is just above it. This chapel was visited by Juan Pablo II in 1987:

Oceanic Rock Viewpoint in Concón

Greetings to all! I returned from my holidays just a few days ago and I’m catching up with all the emails and news.
I’ve been to Chile in South America and the province of Mendoza, Argentina. I’ve visited lots of new places and met really nice and interesting people who I hope to see again in the near future.
To start the first post of 2009 I would like something that represents Chile: the fish symbol of the well-known writer Pablo Neruda. This symbol is located in a viewpoint named the Oceanic Rock. This viewpoint is in the town of Concón, Valparaíso Province, Chile. I must say that this is another lovely place to visit.
I hope this new year has started well for you! Stay tuned to see more images from this wonderful country!
